Rapid Rehousing + Rent assistance

Rapid Rehousing is a solution to houselessness that returns an individual to permanent housing as quickly as possible. This solution greatly reduces the number of individuals experiencing or at risk of chronic homelessness.

Do Good’s approach to Rapid Rehousing & Rent Assistance includes:

  • identifying housing that meets individual needs so that their housing remains sustainable

  • relational and financial support during the move-in process and up to 24 months

  • case management, peer support, and mental health support after moving that creates stability in housing. Rent assistance is provided through the Metro Supportive Housing Services bond.

The Mobile Supportive Services (MSS) Team

Do Good’s MSS Team supports our participants as they transition from houselessness and further into independence. The process is squarely aimed at achieving stability in housing, income, health, and well-being, while also encouraging autonomy and self-determination.

In this model of wrap-around support, collaborative specialist teams physically travel to newly re-housed individuals, eliminating the barriers of access and transportation. Once on site, they work collaboratively with our participants, empowering them as they accomplish their goals. A social worker offers mental health support and individualized counseling throughout the process.

The work we do in MSS is so critical to serving those in our community who need the support to reacquire their independence. I love being able to serve the participants where they are and at their own pace!

— Alex Cubillas, Peer Support Specialist

These specialist teams craft person-centered, trauma-informed approaches that support participants in:

  • Navigating service and resource networks

  • Identifying opportunities for long-term rental assistance

  • Applying for income-improving benefits such as SSI, SSDI, SNAP, or unemployment

  • Job applications

  • Medical care access

  • Food security resources

  • Group counseling and recovery support

By centering an individualized approach, the MSS team has the flexibility and freedom to truly meet folks where they are in their housing journey. Most importantly, this proven process helps individuals retain their housing.

In just its first 18 months, the MSS team has supported more than 85 individuals as they secured and remained in permanent housing.
